The Problem / 01

Mainstream media
doesn't listen.

Bangladesh has dozens of newspapers and television channels. None of them are written by the people they claim to represent.

Walk into any Bangla newsroom in Dhaka and you will find the same pattern: an editor at a desk, deciding what gets published from a small pool of staff reporters. Decisions are filtered through political alignment, corporate sponsorship, and decades of editorial habit.

Meanwhile 170 million Bangladeshis live their lives. A garment worker in Gazipur has a story. A taxi driver in Riyadh has a story. A student in Sylhet has footage from a flood that mainstream television will never show. Their voices reach no one.

And for the 13 million Bangladeshis living abroad — the probashi community in Qatar, KSA, UAE, Italy, Malaysia, the UK — the gap is even wider. Their lives are simply not covered. Embassy queues, salary disputes, community festivals, deaths in foreign hospitals — invisible.

This is the gap Bangla Timeline was built to close.

  • 01

    Editorial gatekeeping

Three or four senior editors decide what 170 million Bangladeshis read every day. Stories outside their worldview never appear.

  • 02

    Diaspora blind spot

13 million Bangladeshis abroad — entire embassies of life — get less coverage in a month than Dhaka traffic gets in a day.

  • 03

    Slow desktop newspapers

Most Bangla news sites still feel like 2008 — heavy desktop layouts, no video, no mobile-first design, no user voice.

  • 04

    No way to contribute

Readers can comment. They cannot publish. The platforms are designed to broadcast at people, not from them.

The Mission / 02

A newsroom
that listens back.

Bangla Timeline is the first Bangla news portal where readers are also reporters. Citizen-first by design. Multimedia by default. Free by principle.

Bangla mainstream media has decided for too long what our people are allowed to see. Bangla Timeline is built on a different idea — the people's voice is the news. If something matters to a Bangladeshi anywhere on the planet, it matters to us.

Our Approach / 04

Multimedia.
Mobile-first. Real-time.

Most Bangla news sites still publish like print newspapers with a website attached. Bangla Timeline was built for the way people actually read news in 2026 — on a phone, with one thumb, in three formats.

01 / 04

Real-time publishing

Stories go live within minutes of verification. Live blogs for fast-moving events — elections, floods, cricket finals.

02 / 04

Video-first storytelling

Vertical, sub-90-second video for every major story. Optimized for Reels and Shorts. Subtitled for the diaspora.

03 / 04

Mobile-first design

Loads under 1.4s on 3G. 70% of our readers are on phones — the site is engineered for them, not for a Dhaka editor's desktop.

04 / 04

Reader contributions

Submit photo, video or text from the app. Editorial verifies. Verified stories get full credit and amplification.

FAQ / 05

Frequently asked
questions.

Five common questions about Bangla Timeline. Send more to hello@banglatimeline.com.

What is Bangla Timeline?
Bangla Timeline is a people-first Bangla news portal built by Dream Group. We publish real-time news, citizen journalism, multimedia stories and diaspora reporting — in Bengali, for Bangladeshis at home and abroad.
How is Bangla Timeline different from other Bangla news sites?
Most Bangla news portals are heavily editorial — the same handful of newsrooms decide what is news. Bangla Timeline puts ordinary citizens first. Readers can submit stories, photos and video, and our editorial team verifies and amplifies them. It is the people's voice — not a single newsroom's voice.
Is Bangla Timeline free to read?
Yes. Bangla Timeline is 100% free to read on the web and on mobile. No paywalls, no subscriptions. The platform is funded by ethical advertising and supported by Dream Group.
Can I submit my own news story?
Yes. Any reader can submit a story, photo or video through the Submit page on banglatimeline.com. Our editorial team verifies submissions and publishes the ones that meet our citizen-journalism guidelines.
Does Bangla Timeline cover Bangladeshi diaspora news?
Yes. Diaspora reporting is a core pillar. We cover Bangladeshi communities in Qatar, KSA, UAE, Italy, Malaysia, the UK and the US — visa changes, embassy news, community events, and the stories that mainstream media ignores.

Bangla Timeline is live, free, and updated by readers and reporters every hour. Read it on the web, follow on social, or submit your own story from anywhere in the world.
